Parents, Are You Spiritual?

When did you think about the question of spirituality? Was it when you had children of your own? Maybe you’re now thinking; perhaps it’s time to consider how to raise the children with a spiritual understanding. Let me encourage you, now is a great time to start thinking about this. Children can feel lost if they are expected to go it alone in this world of suffering. It's helpful to have someone greater than mom and dad to talk with about life’s hurts.

I remember thinking as a child that someone was listening and caring. Yet,  I wasn’t instructed how to hear, listen and expect anyone to speak back to me; I eventually gave up and drifted for many years.

What can they know? Perhaps a deeper way to listen and to know that someone cares about what they care about, like pets, school, play, brothers and sisters, mom and dad, everything.  Keep it simple yet relational.

You can learn right alongside your children. Find peace together.  These are some beginning steps to take with your child.

Find healthy character books to read together.

Thanks before meals shows gratitude .

Bless significant events like vacations and traveling, or small events.

Pray for people you know that are sick and need to become well.

Be grateful for your many blessings, and you will soon grow your spiritual understanding.
